Mother’s Day is one of the most stressful days of the year. How can you possibly top last years gift to the most important woman in your life? Well, here’s a creative gesture for this years non-cliche mommy and me outing. I’ve set up a full day itinerary for you and your mom to spend the entire day enjoying each others company while still shopping black.
She’s Polished The Salon
Start her off with a light pampering and take a trip to She’s Polished Nail Salon. The salon is a charming nail salon in Bed Stuy. The nail technicians create unique designs highlighting contemporary black art.
Bed Stuy Arts Stroll
Get her cultural juices flowing at the Bed Stuy Arts Stroll; a tour of Brooklyn’s finest art, history, and local talent.
After you’ve seen all the art Brooklyn offer, hop over to Tilly’s Bklyn. This restaurant kept the aesthetic of the 1940’s styled jazz bar it was before it was accommodated by the new owner. The copper laced bar, black and white tile floors, and cloudy windows give the venue an old feel. Tilly’s has an astonishing menu and sells wine-based cocktails and beers. Perfect for a bite to eat before ending the night.
Williamsburg Music Center
Last but not least wine down with a little bit of live jazz at the Williamsburg Music Center. This jazz club is filled with music, life, and stories. It’s been open since 1981 and has been a staple in the black music community. It’s a cozy little place that’s sure to grab her attention and give her a memory she’ll never forget.
Papa Rozier Farms
If you’re looking to surprise her with a gift be sure to go to Papa Rozier Farms first. It’s a Bushwick boutique that sells all-natural beauty products. This sister and brother owned boutique carries skin and hair moisturizers.
Whatever you do make sure you show mom she can have a good time.
